Had a good time on the bikes today and it wasnt too cold. Took some pics of the landscape but decided not to post em, gray skies and barren trees are just ugly. Am thankful though for a good friend and some time spent outside

Horse Farms
I went riding on the bike by myself today and ended up behind Kenneland and Calumet Farm. Was in the mid 50's and sunny, a beautiful day to be on the bike! Loved seeing the horses and was surprised at how interested they were in me and the bike.
Took these pics with my new camera, Nikon Coolpix S220. I read mostly bad reviews AFTER I bought it but I think it takes pretty good pics for a mid price range digital.

Calumet Broodmares, that chestnuut on the left is definitely in foal. I took this with the zoom, they were very far away.

THE GAS PUMP!
Made me sick to my stomach to put 25.00 worth of gas in my truck today, knowing that's at least 6 weeks of gas for the scooter. That said, its going to be 57 degrees and sunny tomorrow with zero chance of rain, that makes me and a bunch of other two wheel riders very happy.

New Seat...."aaaaarrgghh"
I found this web site today Pirate Upholstery and am thinking about sending my seat to them to be customized, still waiting to hear back from them concerning the details and cost but am excited about having a cool and more original seat on my bike.
I really like the looks of this seat but minus the skull.

Real Life on Scooter
Giorgio Bettinelli
Giorgio Bettinelli is arguably the greatest scooter-riding world tourer. He has ridden around the world numerous times on a Vespa PX. However, he apparently recently upgraded to a Vespa GT200. He has vowed to ride through every country in the world on his Vespa.
Bettinelli believes "The Vespa is like a bridge to tolerance and sympathy."[5]
Surprisingly, Bettinelli has few repair skills. When asked what he does when his Vespa breaks down, he replied "You wait. Someone comes, someone helps. A car, a truck, a camel. An hour, a day. Someone comes, someone helps."[6]
He has written books about his trips, but unfortunately for us English-speakers these books are only available in Italian.
Link on Australian leg of Bettinelli's trip:[7]

UPDATE
Just found out that Giorgio Bettinelli died in 2008 from a sudden illness, he was 53

I dont like winter!!!
The cold weather is coming and am savoring every single moment I can ride my bike. Once it gets below 50 it kinda stops being fun especially when the sun isn't shining and its hard to dress warm enough. Those of us who love being on our scoots are dreading winter, I for one am counting the days til Spring, and am so hoping the summer of 2010 will not be as disappointing as the summer of 09.
